Posted some pictures on Facebook and forgot to put your privacy settings on high? Well thanks to a dodgy iPhone app you too can be stalked by gawky teens and perverts of all age! According to Techcrunch:
Ok, so this app made me feel really dirty when I downloaded it. It’s called Badabing! and it basically goes through your friends’ photos on Facebook to pull out the ones of them at the pool or beach. In other words, we’re talking about scantily clad photos here.
I of course, for the sake of technology journalism, had to download the app and give it a whirl. It actually kind of works and it’s really creepy. To protect the not so innocent, I’m not going to post any actual screenshots of my Facebook friends. They’d kill me. And probably the folks who made this app.
The app is $1.99 and all you have to do is log in with your Facebook account and then choose a few friends to dig up some dirt on. The company has some sort of image recognition technology that looks for…skin?
Gizmodo sums it up perfectly:
Is this wrong? Well, if the “beach and pool” pictures are available on Facebook for anyone to see, then technically no. But it totally destroys most decent people’s tacit handshake agreement of not being a dickhead Facebook perv. So yeah, it’s wrong. Stop creeping. Ugh, Facebook brings out the worst in people.
Badabing pretty much tells me we’ve hit a new low in humanity. Despite tons and tons of dubious content online we still need ways to find semi naked pictures of a girl a user of this app is too scared to even speak to in real life.
Badabing baby, badabing.
